Fill up two plastic cups with room temperature water. Grab three pieces of paper towel from under the sink. Clear the desk of all books, papers and decorations. Tear out a sheet of paper. Pull out the palette. Squeeze the tube. And I'm off. Surrounded by gouache and watercolors, glitter and glue, sequins and studs, I am in my own little world comprised of nothing more than the colors on my brush and the movement of my hands.
They’re here! Every year I create a new set of hand painted glass ornaments. It’s a favorite past time of mine. And for the first time ever I AM SO SO SUPER EXCITED to have decided to share them on the site and offer them to all of you. They are a labor of love. I craft each girl from my own imagination and more often let the paintbrush do the talking then my own mind.
That little intro up there was actually the opening to my college essay (I must thank my writer sister for making it pretty as it sounds). But nearly 5 years later I am still that same girl. The one surrounded by gouache and watercolors. Imperfect stokes and too much on her brain to ever put down on paper. But sometimes I try and other times I am successful. 5 years later since writing that essay I am the best artist I have ever been. I understand my style better than before and I am unafraid to try and test and gamble.
So, this little space of mine in the ether is where I share it all. The projects I am working on. The products I am (often too eagerly) offering. It’s not all pretty and certainly not perfect. Pursuing your passion never is I have learned and I can now honestly attest to. But the little girl I once was is now the mother to the woman I am. I swing higher trying to reach the sky. I sprint to no where just to melt into a puddle of giggles. And I smile at the stars each night to never forget where I came from.
