2018 Affirmations | New Year
(original post from SUN+MAMA)
Let's do away with the resolutions. And shift our voice to something a bit more concrete. A bit more affirmative. Positive affirmations.
I am.
I do.
I go.
No more leaving it up to chance with the "I want to's" and the "I hope I will's."
Write it in stone. "I am."
No if's, an's, or but's.
What does this subtle shift in tone provide? Concrete action. It's an affirmation, a mantra if you will. It's an intention you are setting. You are excited about it. It makes you happy. Let these words become a part of your identity. Share what it is you want for yourself with yourself. Let it all out. (Hint: it makes you feel even more bubbly and excited to let your soul sing).

I enjoy a nice DIY project. And on a brisk winter afternoon with the sun sprinkling warm light through my window, I sat down with a cup of tea and off I went envisioning how I wanted to create my affirmations. I imagined myself opening these affirmations one year from now and how delighted I would be if they were actually substantial (in year's past I have been disappointed with my presentation or lack of specific information I have left myself).
In my mind I saw a stack of tiny papers in my hands. Bright pink card-stock with a similar hue of ink and fun doodles with pops of color throughout. Silly you may think. How much time can one devote to imagining. Well that is up to you. You decide how big or small you want to get.
Take a moment now to imagine.
On January 1, 2019. What do you want to open?
It may be a few pieces of looseleaf from a nearby notebook. Scrap computer paper. Beautiful stationary. A custom cut on card-stock. Or a beautifully embossed notebook with room for years to come. You may even want to go digital. Take whatever you imagine. And accept this is what works for you.
Next. Take a few deep breaths. Close your eyes. And release any expectations. Release what you think you should write. What you expect to read. What you would want others to hear.
Sit in this silence for a few moments. Trust. You will know when you are ready to write. Just let your breathe come an go. Feeling the air deep within your lungs.
Inhale. Exhale. Inhale. Exhale. Inhale. Exhale.
Now pick up your pen or flip open you laptop. And let it your hands move. A long line. A swirly scribble. A word. Whatever it may be. Let your hands move. And go from there. Your first lines do not have to be words. They do not have to be affirmations. They can just be.
And as your pen flows fill your pages with whatever it is you need to hear. Whatever it is you need to say. And know you are intending for these very movements on the page to manifest.
Aaaaaaaa. It feels nice to let the truth out doesn't it? Really admit the things you love to yourself.
Know it's never too late to write your positive affirmations, and set your intentions for the New Year. I began writing my intentions on December 29th to give myself time to ponder a day or two before the ringing in the new year. But don't feel pressure to say it all now. Explore what you want. Say what you need. These positive affirmations are groundwork for the year. We can let the New Moon each month act as an opportunity to check-in like a monthly review. Until then...
Feel free to share down below in the comments a FEELING you had while either reading this post or while writing your New Year positive affirmations. I'd love to hear!
New year blessings to you all...
